HOOBS Homebridge Compatibility#
homebridge-homeconnect is not a HOOBS plugin. It targets standard Homebridge installations only, and HOOBS-specific issues are explicitly out of scope for maintainer support. Users experiencing problems that cannot be reproduced on a vanilla Homebridge setup should contact HOOBS support directly .
Engine Version Requirement#
The plugin declares strict engines constraints in package.json:

HOOBS bundles its own pinned Homebridge version, which may lag significantly behind these minimums. Homebridge enforces engines.homebridge at plugin load time, so any mismatch causes an immediate, hard load failure.
Failure Signature#
When the bundled Homebridge version falls outside ^1.11.4 || ^2.2.1, the plugin fails to load with an error of the form:
The plugin "homebridge-homeconnect" requires a Homebridge version of ^1.11.4 || ^2.2.1
which does not satisfy the current Homebridge version of 1.8.4
This was observed in issue #405 with HOOBS running Homebridge 1.8.4 — well below the ^1.11.4 floor .
Why the Plugin Cannot Work Around This#
The engine constraint is enforced by Homebridge core before the plugin's own code executes. There is no runtime shim or fallback path the plugin can provide; resolution requires the underlying Homebridge version to be updated.
