The libmagic-rs project has adopted the Contributor Covenant Code of Conduct version 2.0 to foster a respectful, inclusive, and harassment-free community for all participants, regardless of background or identity. The Code of Conduct applies to all community spaces and to individuals representing the project in public contexts, such as using official email addresses or social media accounts CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md.

Expected standards of behavior include demonstrating empathy and kindness, respecting differing opinions and experiences, giving and accepting constructive feedback, taking responsibility for mistakes, and prioritizing the community’s best interests. Unacceptable behaviors include sexualized language or imagery, trolling, insults, harassment, publishing private information without permission, and other conduct considered inappropriate in a professional setting.

Community leaders are responsible for clarifying and enforcing these standards. They may remove, edit, or reject comments, commits, code, wiki edits, issues, and other contributions that violate the Code of Conduct, and will communicate reasons for moderation decisions when appropriate.

Violations can be reported to community leaders at support@evilbitlabs.io. Reports are reviewed and investigated promptly and fairly, with respect for the privacy and security of the reporter.

Enforcement follows graduated guidelines based on the severity and pattern of violations:

• Correction: For minor or first-time issues, a private written warning is issued, clarifying the nature of the violation and why it was inappropriate. A public apology may be requested.
• Warning: For more serious or repeated incidents, a warning is issued with restrictions on interaction for a specified period. Further violations may result in a temporary or permanent ban.
• Temporary Ban: For serious violations or sustained inappropriate behavior, a temporary ban from all community interaction is imposed. Violating the terms of the ban may lead to permanent exclusion.
• Permanent Ban: For persistent violations, harassment, or aggression, a permanent ban from all community spaces is enforced.

These measures are designed to ensure a welcoming and healthy environment for all contributors and participants in the libmagic-rs community.
