| Reimplement config-faker as a bidirectional config converter: parse any supported vendor config into CommonDevice, write it out as a different vendor's format. |
Why This Matters#
A Reddit post about pf2opn.com (a weekend hack project) got 461 upvotes. Existing conversion tools are broken. Netgate's licensing changes are driving pfSense→OPNsense migrations. This is validated demand.
Use Cases#
- Migrate from OPNsense to pfSense (or vice versa)
- Generate test configs for mixed environments
- Cross-vendor migration assistance (later, with Cisco/Fortinet parsers)
Depends On#
Feature 1 (CommonDevice) + Feature 2 (pfSense parser) at minimum. More valuable with Feature 17 (additional parsers).
