This page explains how Dosu billing works, where to manage your plan and payment, what counts toward usage, and what each plan tier includes. For current prices, see the Dosu pricing page.
What it is#
Dosu meters usage in credits. A credit is consumed each time Dosu does billable work for your organization, such as posting an answer or generating a Document. Each plan includes a monthly pool of credits that resets at the start of each billing period.
Your plan also controls which Sources and Agents your organization can use. Some connectors require a paid plan (see Plans and what each includes below).
How to manage billing#
Billing lives in Settings, Organization, Billing. Only Owners and Admins can open this page. From it you can:
- See your current plan, billing interval, and seat count.
- View usage for the current period.
- Upgrade or change your plan.
- Update your payment method.
- Download past invoices as PDFs.
- Cancel your subscription.
To change who can access this page, manage roles inĀ Settings > Organization > Members. See User Management and Roles and RBAC.
What counts toward usage#
The unit of billable work is an interaction: a single AI response Dosu produces and delivers. The following consume credits.
- A message Dosu posts on GitHub, Slack, Microsoft Teams, or in Chat.
- A Document that Dosu generates.
Knowledge reviews are metered too, and tracked separately from interactions. When a pull request or merge request is opened or merged, Dosu runs one knowledge review across your published Documents to flag anything that may be stale.
Some work does not consume credits.
- Auto-labeling issues and pull requests.
- Preview-only drafts that are never posted (for example, output you decline in Review).
- Failed or canceled workflows.
You can watch usage for the current period on the Billing page.
Plans and what each includes#
Dosu offers four tiers. Credit allowances and exact prices are on the pricing page, so the summary below focuses on what each tier unlocks.
- Free. A monthly credit allowance for getting started, scoped to public GitHub repositories.
- Pro. A larger monthly credit allowance with optional overage, plus the connectors gated behind a paid plan (Slack and others below). Pro is the self-serve paid tier for individuals and smaller teams.
- Team (Legacy). A per-seat plan retained for existing customers. It is no longer offered for new upgrades, so new teams choose Pro or Enterprise instead.
- Enterprise. Unlimited usage with a custom contract, plus governance features such as single sign-on and custom roles. Enterprise is priced per organization. To discuss it, contact Dosu through the pricing page.
Connectors that require a paid plan#
GitHub and Web work across all tiers. The following Sources and Agents require the Teams plan (a paid plan), and Pro and Enterprise organizations have this access:
- Slack
- Microsoft Teams
- Confluence
- Notion
- Coda
In the app, a connector that your plan does not include displays a lock icon. Selecting it opens an upgrade prompt. See Connecting Knowledge for connector details.
Notes#
- Billing is per organization. Usage from all of your Libraries, Agents, and connected Sources draws from the same credit pool.
- Pricing, credit allowances, and overage terms are set on the pricing page and can change. Check there for current numbers rather than relying on a figure quoted elsewhere.
- For plan questions that the Billing page does not answer, or to set up Enterprise, reach Dosu through the pricing page.
