Settings is where you manage your own account and your organization in Dosu. This page maps what lives in Settings, explains which areas are managed elsewhere, and covers why the menu you see depends on your role.
What Settings covers#
Settings is split into two sections.
Account (your personal settings, the same on every team you belong to):
- Profile at Settings, Account, Profile. Your name and avatar.
- API keys at Settings, Account, API keys. Create and revoke keys to authenticate theĀ MCP Server, CLI, and other programmatic access.
Organization (settings that apply to the whole team):
- General at Settings, Organization, General. Organization name and avatar.
- Members at Settings, Organization, Members. Invite people, remove them, and set each person's role. See User management.
- Billing at Settings, Organization, Billing. Your plan, seat count, payment method, and past invoices. See Billing.
What is managed outside Settings#
A few things you might expect under Settings live in their own areas of the app, because each is a first-class workspace rather than a configuration panel.
- Agents are managed at Agents. An Agent is how Dosu appears on platforms such as GitHub, Slack, or Microsoft Teams. Configure reply behavior, grounding Sources, and guidelines there. See Agents.
- Sources are managed inside a Library, not on a separate page. Open or create a Library at Libraries, then add and manage its connected Sources from there. Library settings (name, visibility, knowledge behavior, and connected Sources) also live with each Library. See Libraries and Sources.
There is no Settings, Data Sources page in the current app. If you are looking for connected repositories or workspaces, go to the Library that owns them.
Roles and what you can see#
Dosu uses role-based access control at the organization level. Every member has one of three roles.
- Owner. Full control over the organization, including deleting it. Each organization has exactly one Owner.
- Admin. Can invite and manage members, manage Agents and Sources, and view billing.
- Member. Can view Agents and Sources and use Dosu, but cannot manage members or billing.
Changing organization settings, creating or editing Agents, and creating Libraries are restricted to Owners and Admins. Members have read and participate access, not administrative control.
This is why two people can open Settings and see different menus. The Billing entry appears only for Owners and Admins, so a Member sees the Account section (Profile and API keys) and the Organization section, but not Billing. The settings you are not permitted to change are hidden rather than shown as disabled, so a smaller menu means a more limited role, not a missing feature.
If you expected an option and do not see it, check your role on the Members page or ask an Owner or Admin to adjust it.
Notes#
- You need a Dosu account to manage settings, review documentation, or configure Agents. You do not need an account to interact with Dosu on GitHub or Slack, which work for anyone in the connected repository or workspace.
- Custom RBAC policies are available on the Enterprise plan. The three-role model above applies on all plans. For exact plan boundaries and pricing, see Billing or contact Dosu.
